Is your relationship with your breasts a source of pain or pleasure?

Either way, here’s what I want you to know…

Your breasts are so much more than just symbols of beauty and sexual desirability. And, they don’t just exist for the pleasure and benefit of others (even your babies)… they are yours to love and enjoy.

But, because most women have been conditioned to compare their own breasts with the current cultural ideal, we tell ourselves stories that are not very empowering…

“They are too big.”

“They are too small.”

“They are too saggy.”

“They are ugly.”

“They are uneven.”

“They never went back to normal after having a baby.”

“I lost my breast(s) due to cancer and I don’t feel like a woman anymore.”

Personally, it took me decades to release the shame I carried about my breasts and I know that this affected my breast health and reproductive health because everything starts as energy.

Collectively, we carry a lot of pain and trauma around our breasts from the patriarchy and ancestral wounding as well.

But, the good news is that you can heal all this.

Breast massage is a practice I discovered, which I want to share with you, because it has been such a game-changer for me in reuniting and healing trauma in my body, specifically my breasts.

5 Reasons To Massage Your Breasts

  1. Your breasts are intimately and cyclically connected to your menstrual cycle and reproductive health. Massaging them can help to rebalance your hormones and regulate your period.
  2. Biologically, breast tissue is made up mostly of fat & lymph. Massage helps circulate this area to avoid toxin buildup, which is one of the key contributors to breast cancer.
  3. Massaging your breasts releases relaxation hormones and activates your parasympathetic state – the optimal state for healing.
  4. Your breasts are one of your main erogenous zones. Through self-massage, you can reignite your sensuality and sex drive and reconnect with your pleasure center.
  5. The highly sensory-rich tissue of your breasts contains inner wisdom. Massaging will help you deepen your connection to your intuition and psychic abilities as a woman.

These are only a few of the benefits. If you’re a new mom, then you know how massaging your breasts is super important for lactation and breastfeeding.

Breast massage is also a beautiful upgrade to the militant monthly breast exam because you are getting to know your breasts in a more loving way, which enhances your health on all levels.

How To Massage Your Breasts

There’s really no wrong way to get intimate with your ta-tas, but here are some suggested guidelines.

  1. Allow at least 10-15 minutes for this self-care practice.
  2. Grab some oil (coconut oil works great) and get yourself comfy lying down sans your shirt and bra.
  3. Bring in sensual music and/or sensual props (feathers, silk, etc.) if you desire.
  4. Start taking deep breaths in and slowly exhaling, connecting to your body.
  5. Apply a small amount of oil on one breast and gently cup with the opposite hand, massaging your fingertips up into your armpit and thumb massaging the inside of the breast.
  6. Next use gentle circular motions around your breast in a way that feels pleasurable for about 5 minutes.
  7. Make sure you are still taking deep breaths throughout the massage. Be present and patient with yourself. Enjoy yourself.
  8. Try playing with your nipples by pinching and twisting gently and pleasurably. Notice how the rest of your body responds.
  9. Think loving thoughts about your breasts while massaging to enhance the healing even more.
  10. End your self-care practice with a deep breath and bow of gratitude towards your beautiful breasts.

I also want to say that if you’ve had one or both breasts removed, you can still do this practice and I highly recommend it to help heal any residual energetic/emotional trauma and trauma to the tissues.

Dr. Christiane Northrup says,

“If our bodies are nothing but a field of ideas, let’s make sure those ideas represent our best interests.”

So, no matter what… love your breasts.

After all, it’s no coincidence that they sit right on top of your heart chakra, the energy center of unconditional love.
